Started the day with a great conversation with Anne about her work. Ann has been involved with creating murals at schools and our discussion was about the positive impact on the school environment and the students. A time-consuming but engaging process where each student creates an artwork around a them,Ann produces a background and then she puts it all together by tracing the students work onto the background for them to paint.
Found our way to Capilano Suspension Bridge after a mild directional difficulty as we emerged from the underground Canada line.Everybody including the bus drivers are helpful beyond anything either of us have experienced before. Stand on the roadside with a map and there is an excellent chance someone will offer assistance.
Capilano Suspension Bridge. The presentation and structure is amazing – the lengthy suspended swinging bridge, a tree adventure that has roped walks strung between multiple trees and supported by many others to avoid strain on any individual tree. A cliff walk along the granite cliff face overhanging the river
The bridge itself had a variety of peoples travelling across – a women clinging desperately to the moving sides, cameras everywhere, the ubiquitous selfie sticks, a woman taking up every pose possible including rabbits ears, oblivious to those waiting to cross.
On the bus back into Vancouver the bus driver definitely saw himself as comedian and kept us all entertained. He was momentarily silenced when a couple (NZ or Oz not sure) asked to be dropped off at a department store (stipulating budget level from which Chris deduced they were Kiwi). The driver asked what they wanted and they said they were off on an Alaskan cruise the next day and had come without warm enough clothing
We need sleeping bags for our trip to Haida Gwaii and did not want to carry them throughout our trip so decided to buy cheap ones in Vancouver and leave them here when we finish. Ann took us to a store which was hard to leave without buying excessively: Sports Junkies. Seconds, samples, and “lightly used” – love that term.
Another dinner treat this time a feast at East is East Chai Lounge. When choosing the “Chai Feast” you get to choose 2 dishes and then continue to choose what you would like after entree and first round of mains.
