The Paradox of Singapore-modern skyscrapers vs traditional gardens

Arriving in Singapore Day 1 30th April  2019

So after five months at “home” with our beautiful extended families, we are on the road again. We leave with bittersweet memories of an unforgettable send-off for my Mum, a lovely wedding in New Zealand with lots of wonderful sightseeing and the some great travelling around own country with friends from overseas.

Lovely flight with Singapore Airlines, checking into our hotel and then wandering a couple of km to “Gardens on the Bay”. It really epitomises Singapore. Huge buildings (one with a ship on it!!) and a forest and a flower garden both contained under glass.

We had a delightful satay supper by the bay and then on to the SUPERTREES!

The SUPERTREES-a technological marvel with enough glitz to attract hundreds of people every night just to watch.

So, all in all, I wonder what has happened to the history buried under acres of concrete ,but one cannot deny Singapore’s attractions and the commercial dynamism that built it.

So tomorrow, off to China and the Terracotta warriors.
