Day 26 12 March 2017 St Petersburg
After our exhausting but exhilirating morning in the Winter Palace and Hermitage it was a quick lunch and off again.
This time a walking tour to explore art and new Russia. Our guide also Anna was herself an entrepreneur and graphic artist who took us on a tour of some fascinating nooks and crannies one could barely imagine finding on one’s own.
Visits included a vintage shop which had artifacts including an array of Samovars and old Russian army uniforms. We visited several art – exhibition spaces in old apartment blocks. Two or three storey buildings with small rooms around quadrangles, one joining the next.
Street art,
mosaic park, art schools, and more street art:
a Subscriptions book shop owned by the same family since it began as a shop where people could subscribe to newspapers
At small shop for men in one of the complexes Chris bought a beautiful leather folding kit capable of storing many travel documents etc.
Despite feeling beyond tired we asked Anna for a dinner recommendation – what a winner. A quirky, super friendly place where our dinner companions were soft toys – a large Rhino and a Monkey, the service was fantastic and the menu was extensive and a great mix. Fun and food at Zoom
