Day 116 August 5th 2018 Last Day in the Faroe Islands
A treat for our last day – our wonderful host let us stay in the penthouse apartment for the day until ferry sailing. We enjoyed our last moments in the cute apartment overlooking Torshavn. A wonderful restful day.
Bags packed, apartment cleaned and checked and a final stroll around the town before boarding the ferry for our trip to Copenhagen.
Visited the lighthouse and fort on the edge of the harbour. Skansin fort first built in the 1580s and added to in subsequent eras. Now minimal structure remains – surrounded by the lighthouse and ferry building.
Sat watching the colourful array of boats in the harbour then time for a final beer at the Mikkeller bar and onto the ferry.
A comfortable sail to Hirtshal and on to Copenhagen by train. Overnight on the ferry provided a comfortable night sleep, entertainment by a talented duo and time for last minute purchases including a cute stuffed puffin for Chris’s Mum.
